I began working in costume design at the end of my BFA at UVic; then in Toronto from 2004 - 2015 I did numerous costume design projects for theatre projects of various sizes, and commissions for individuals and businesses. I spent a season as the Head of Wardrobe at the Sudbury Theatre Centre (2009), designing and developing more fabrication skills. I carried on to apply these skills to creating my own stilt costumes for performance, and puppet costumes for my puppet theatre projects. In 2016 I moved to Vancouver and created a fashion show out of wallpaper! Then I began focusing more on working in film, becoming a permittee with IATSE 891. As of January 2019 I am mostly making costumes for myself on stilts but I am open to proposals!

"Amira Routledge’s period costumes are far handsomer than what anyone should expect from a company with such small budgets."
