Step With Me: Interactive Public Art, July 2021
Through my work at GNW Scene Shop I had the pleasure of surface finishing and painting the sculptural elements of this wonderful piece of interactive public art. It was created by Tangible Interaction with co-sponsors Bentall Centre and the Downtown Vancouver Business Improvement Association, to promote, celebrate and advocate for the LGBTQ1AS+ community in Vancouver. The metal base, PVC pipes and custom 3D printed parts were fabricated, assembled, painted & finished at GNW Scene Shop, while the team at Tangible created all the electronics and programming. Once installed on its rainbow staircase, each horn would make a different sound when someone stepped on its level. I wish I'd seen it in action myself!

Alongside all the artsy stuff, I've done a number of projects that a commercial painter would do. From staining and varnishing outdoor planters, to spraying metal furniture, to repainting art gallery walls, to repairing public art, this work is technically rewarding.
