Carbon Neutral Commons 2013 - 2017
I was an illustrator and writer for a company called Carbon Neutral Commons: the brainchild and passion project of a man sharing ideas & technology for carbon sequestration on a global and local scale. With CNC I developed communication tools, assisted in visual presentations, and traveled as a scribe, photographer and documentarist. This unique organization worked towards the development and implementation of gasification technology as a means to replace fossil fuels using crop leftovers, while also sequestering carbon and improving soil productivity through the use of biochar.

Caravan Stage Company 2014, 2015 & 2021
Caravan Stage was a "tall ship theatre" operating out of its 90' replica River Thames sailing barge, the Amara Zee. In spring 2014 I worked with them in Jacksonville, Florida, making giant puppets, masks, scenic sculptures and various other projects for their 2014 touring show, "Hacked: The Treasure of the Empire". In spring 2015 I joyfully rejoined the company for another production season, but this time in Brooklyn, NY for 7 weeks camped in an industrial park, remounting "Hacked". In fall 2015 I spent 7 weeks as a crew member helping to take the ship from Baltimore to northern Florida; an adventure of a lifetime. In spring 2021 I spent 2 months building giant/weird projection screens for their show "Virtual Rogues", the final production of this small but mighty Canadian theatre company. I really love the Caravan, it is truly a family venture that I'm privileged to be a part of. www.caravanstage.org |

Frolick Theatre, 2012 & 2013
For Frolick's 2012 season I co-produced, co-created, and managed a series of 3 original puppet, mask, and stilt musical plays based on Winsor McCay's 1905 comic series, Little Nemo In Slumberland. The shows were presented 4 times per day, 5 or 6 days per week, all summer long at Toronto Island's Lagoon Theatre, a little-known outdoor stage located near Centreville amusement park. I also made the company's logo, as seen at left, and assisted in the production of our Adventures in Slumberland at the Fedora-Upside Down Festival in Oct. 2012.
In 2013 I did the set, puppets, masks and props for the remount of Part 1 and the first staging of Part 3, while Artistic Director Matthew Krist produced and ran the shows 7 days/week with 3 different casts taking on the project in the heart of beautiful Toronto Island Park.

Clay & Paper Theatre 2010 & 2011
In the summer of 2010 I joined the Clay & Paper summer production, "The Circus of Dark & Light" - I acted as assistant director, costume designer, and backstage operator, and had a taste of giant puppetry, masks, & outdoor theatre. I'd known of C & P for a long time, but now I was hooked.
For 2011 we received funding from the Metcalf Foundation for me to work with Clay & Paper as their Intern Artistic Producer. In this role I worked on many administrative and creative tasks associated with the projects underway that year: fundraising, grant applications, a Cycling Oriented Puppet Squad that performed short acts all over Toronto, an original 3-part mobile musical play with a cast of 10, and the 12th annual Night of Dread parade/festival, using the giant puppetry & imagery style of Clay & Paper under the direction of founder & creator David Anderson.

Circus Alchemy 2008 - 2012
From 2004 - 2015 I was a part of the Toronto circus community, and in 2008 with several friends I co-founded a collective of fire, dance, and circus artists to create dance-based circus performances. We did choreographed and roaming entertainment at festivals, corporate events, cabarets, and community arts gatherings. In 2012 the core members had all moved on in their specific art forms and skill sets, so we decided to put the group on indefinate hiatus. I miss it!
